Training: Prachi Patel will receive structured training in psychosis research methodologies and advanced data analysis technique, with particular emphasis on hormonal contributors to psychosis onset. Her training will expand to include technical competencies in EEG and fMRI data acquisition and processing, as well as the use of REDCap for clinical data management. Exposure to psychosis research tools, including structured diagnostic interviews and symptom rating scales, will complement her existing experience with psychiatric patients.
Mentoring: Dr. Powers will provide direct mentorship in psychosis-related clinical research, cognitive neuroscience methodologies, and the integration of women’s health into psychiatric research. Prachi will participate in regular one-on-one meetings with Dr. Powers, as well as collaborative sessions with the Powers Lab team. Her mentorship plan will emphasize the development of posters and publications, which will support her preparation for MD/PhD programs.
Education: Prachi will participate in weekly Powers Lab meetings, PRIME Psychosis Risk Clinic sessions, Psychiatry Grand Rounds, and relevant community engagement initiatives. She will also be invited to collaborate on interdisciplinary research efforts spanning PRIME and PRCH, reflecting her demonstrated ability to work across teams. Participation in qualitative and quantitative research workshops, MRI center trainings, and ongoing mentorship will equip her with the experience necessary to succeed in medical school. This training aligns with her long-term goal of pursuing a MD/PhD in psychosis research with a focus on the integration of women’s health.
