The School of Aerospace Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering (AMME) is one of Australia’s leading research and teaching Engineering Schools, with degree programs in Mechanical, Mechatronic, Aeronautical and Space Engineering. We are currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Additive Manufacturing and Advanced Materials Characterisation to work closely within a multi-institutional team comprising HDR and Honours students, as well as external collaborators across multiple countries. The position offers a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
undertake experimental research focused on copper-based and other alloys processed via powder bed fusion and solid-state additive manufacturing methods.
conduct advanced microstructural and microanalytical characterisation to investigate processing microstructure-property relationships.
disseminate research outcomes through publications and presentations.
About you

The successful candidate will have:
a PhD in Materials Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
a strong background in additive manufacturing of metals.
a solid foundation in materials science, including microstructure-property-processing relationships.
practical experience in advanced microscopy and microanalysis techniques such as atom probe, tomography, transmission electron microscopy, focused ion beam microscopy and EBSD.
an understanding of metal powder characterisation, additive manufacturing process optimisation, and collaborative research environments.
