About the role
Welds, fabricates and reconditions components and parts to customers, OEM and industry standards using basic oxy-acetylene brazing techniques, shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, gas tungsten arc, submerged arc and other resistance welding operations. Cut materials and components require specification using oxy-acetylene, air arc and plasma equipment. Interprets mechanical drawings, blueprints, sketches and performs precision metal cutting, grinding, shaping, fitting and welding.
Job Responsibilities:
- Sets up and operates welding and cutting equipment under limited supervision.
- Works within appropriate weld procedure guidelines to meet customer/contract specifications and apply knowledge of metals and alloys being welded or cut.
- Performs any other work necessary to finish and fit parts to required customer specifications including some pipe fitting/welding.
- Plans sequence of own work operations and methods of set-up based upon weld procedures being utilized and work order requirements.
- Maintains a safe, neat and orderly workstation.
- Maintains welding equipment as required to keep machines in good operating condition and maintains welding supplies and consumables in appropriate storage environment per specifications.
- Assists in the disassembly, inspection, and re-assembly of pump equipment when required.
- Provides information to allow a smooth transition for other coworkers to follow through with in process work during or prior to a shift change as required
- Assists other team members as directed, including training and assisting less experienced coworkers.
- Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide Quality Management effort.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Works overtime as requested.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years’ experience in cutting, welding and fabrication of various metal and alloy components
- Ability to learn and pass various weld certification test (s),
- Ability to read and interpret drawings and blueprints, apply knowledge of weld rods, weld wire, weld equipment settings and basic math skills.
- Possess basic hand tools, basic precision measuring tools and proper safety shoes and attire as specified by a minimum tool requirements list specific to the facility requirements.
