GHR Custom Intranet Developer (React) – Full Stack (AVP)
Corporate Functions Technology
Reports to: Managing Director, Corporate Functions Technology
Role Overview
The GHR Custom Intranet Developer (React) – Full Stack (AVP) will design, build, and operate a modern, global employee intranet experience using custom React-based development. This role is hands-on and end-to-end: owning front-end architecture, integrating enterprise APIs and systems, enabling personalization and role-based experiences, and ensuring production readiness (security, performance, resiliency, and supportability) across a global workforce.
The ideal candidate has delivered enterprise intranet portals or employee experience platforms at scale, understands modern web engineering practices, and can integrate seamlessly with Microsoft 365 (Teams/SharePoint/Viva) and enterprise identity patterns.
Key Responsibilities
Intranet Architecture & End-to-End Delivery (React + Full Stack)
• Architect and build a custom intranet web application using React and modern web frameworks (TypeScript, component patterns, state management, testing).
• Own solution design from discovery through production: information architecture, UI composition, service integration, deployment, operational readiness, and lifecycle management.
• Develop reusable UI components, design patterns, and shared libraries to accelerate delivery and ensure consistency.
• Partner with UX/UI and content stakeholders to translate employee journeys into intuitive, accessible experiences.
Personalization, Search, and Employee Experience
• Implement employee personalization using identity and profile signals (role, location, function, entitlements) and content targeting rules.
• Design role-based dashboards, curated navigation, targeted news/content, and “recommended for you” experiences that reduce noise and increase relevance.
• Build and enhance search experiences (content, people, tools) with relevance tuning and performance optimization.
Enterprise Integrations & APIs
• Build and integrate backend services and APIs (REST/GraphQL as appropriate) to connect the intranet to enterprise platforms (HR systems, service management, knowledge bases, directories, tools).
• Implement secure API integration patterns including OAuth/OIDC, token handling, service-to-service auth where applicable, and resilient request patterns (retries, circuit breakers, caching).
• Develop integration adapters/middleware as needed to normalize data from multiple sources into intranet-friendly experiences.
Microsoft 365 / SharePoint / Teams Integration
• Integrate intranet experiences with Microsoft 365 where appropriate (Teams surface area, SharePoint content/services, and employee experience entry points).
• Build custom components and extensions using modern Microsoft 365 extensibility patterns when needed (e.g., SPFx-based components, dashboards, or cards).
• Ensure solutions align to tenant governance and enterprise permission models.
Performance, Quality, and Accessibility
• Build for performance at enterprise scale: responsive UI, optimized bundles, caching strategies, CDN usage, and strong Core Web Vitals.
• Ensure accessibility and inclusive design (WCAG-aligned patterns), localization support, and mobile-friendly experiences.
• Establish automated test coverage (unit/integration/e2e), code reviews, and engineering standards.
DevOps / ALM and Operational Readiness
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, environment strategy (Dev/Test/Prod), and release governance aligned to enterprise standards.
• Implement observability (logging, monitoring, tracing) and support readiness (runbooks, alerting, incident response patterns).
• Partner with operations and security teams to ensure the intranet is stable, resilient, and supportable globally.
Security, Compliance, and Data Protection
• Embed security-by-design: least privilege access, secure coding practices, data classification handling, and audit-ready logging.
• Ensure the solution meets enterprise expectations for privacy, compliance, and resiliency for employee-facing platforms.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
• Work closely with HR, communications, and business stakeholders to shape a practical roadmap and deliver prioritized outcomes.
• Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical audiences, including status, risks, tradeoffs, and decisions required.
• Mentor other developers and contribute to reusable patterns and platform standards.
Experience & Competencies
• 6–12+ years of software engineering experience with strong hands-on full stack delivery in large enterprise environments.
• Deep expertise in React + TypeScript and modern front-end architecture (component design, performance, testing, CI/CD).
• Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise intranet, portal, or employee experience solutions end-to-end.
• Strong experience designing and consuming APIs; building integration services and working with authentication/authorization patterns.
• Proven ability to build scalable, secure, production-grade systems with operational maturity (observability, resilience, support).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to drive outcomes in a global, matrixed organization.
Preferred / Nice to Have
• Experience with SharePoint Online / Microsoft 365 extensibility (SPFx) and integrating experiences into Teams/Viva.
• Experience with Microsoft Graph and identity-driven personalization patterns.
• Experience with headless CMS architectures; Adobe AEM experience is a plus (headless/SPA approaches).
• Experience implementing enterprise search, content targeting, and personalization engines at scale.
• Experience in GHR / HR domain and employee lifecycle journeys is a plus.
