

The Fitness Instructor at The Cooper delivers exceptional, experience-driven wellness programming that reflects the property’s commitment to excellence, community, and holistic health. This role is responsible for leading engaging group classes, offering personalized fitness training, and contributing to a culture of wellness that inspires both colleagues and guests. The ideal candidate blends technical expertise with a warm, hospitality-forward presence, creating memorable, high-quality experiences.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead dynamic group fitness classes (e.g., strength training, yoga, mobility, running, HIIT, or specialty formats) tailored to a range of fitness levels
Provide personalized instruction, modifications, and encouragement to ensure safe and effective participation
Create a welcoming, inclusive, and high-energy environment that enhances guest engagement and retention
Collaborate with the wellness team to develop innovative programming, including signature experiences and community events
Maintain a strong understanding of current fitness trends and integrate them into class offerings when appropriate
Ensure all equipment and studio spaces are clean, organized, and aligned with luxury hospitality standards
Build meaningful relationships with members and guests, serving as an ambassador of The Cooper’s wellness philosophy
Support special events, activations, and wellness initiatives both on and off property
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 7+ years of experience leading group fitness classes or personal training in a professional or luxury setting
Certified Group Fitness Instructor or Personal Trainer (e.g., NASM, ACE, AFAA, or equivalent)
Proven experience leading group fitness classes in a professional or luxury setting preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a hospitality-oriented mindset
Ability to adapt instruction to various fitness levels, injuries, and individual needs
Passion for health, wellness, and community engagement
Energetic, reliable, and professional with a commitment to excellence
CPR/AED certification (required)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lead and demonstrate fitness exercises for extended periods of time
Capable of lifting, carrying, and setting up fitness equipment (up to 25–50 lbs. as needed)
Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for prolonged shifts
Comfortable working in a variety of environments, including indoor studios and outdoor settings
Maintain a level of physical fitness appropriate for demonstrating proper exercise technique.
