POSITION SUMMARY:
Louisiana State University of Alexandria (LSUA) seeks a dynamic, visionary, and student-centered leader to serve as Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. Reporting directly to the Chancellor, the Provost serves as the university's Chief Academic Officer and provides strategic leadership for all academic programs, faculty affairs, academic planning, assessment, accreditation, distance learning, and student-centered academic initiatives.
As a key member of the Chancellor's Cabinet and Executive Leadership Team, the Provost plays a central role in shaping and implementing the university's strategic vision, particularly in the areas of academic innovation, degree development, enrollment growth, workforce alignment, faculty excellence, and online education expansion.
The Provost provides leadership and oversight for LSUA's academic colleges and divisions, including Engaged Teaching and Learning and Distance Learning, and works collaboratively across the institution to support student achievement, institutional effectiveness, and academic excellence. The Provost also serves as LSUA's lead academic representative to the LSU System, the Louisiana Board of Regents, and other statewide and national academic, accreditation, and governance organizations.
This position is an on-campus, 12-month academic administrative role, which carries faculty status.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support and strengthen a culture of shared governance in partnership with the Faculty Senate and university leadership.
Lead strategic recruitment, retention, development, and support of high-quality faculty talent across academic disciplines.
Foster a positive academic culture that values innovation, collaboration, mentorship, professional growth, and student-centered teaching.
Oversee faculty evaluation, promotion, tenure, and professional development processes.
Supervise academic deans and directors and support effective leadership development throughout Academic Affairs.
Lead and support initiatives that strengthen faculty excellence in both face-to-face and online learning environments.
Collaborate with university leadership on long-range planning, institutional priorities, and fundraising initiatives.
Support operational effectiveness and continuous improvement across Academic Affairs.
