

Now hiring! Under the direction of the Director, the Operations Manager oversees all non-curricular, day-to- day operations of our Newton-based, Godine Early Learning Center. As a key member of the management team, this role ensures effective administrative workflows, operational efficiency, and a high standard of customer service for families, staff, and visitors. The Operations Manager develops and maintains center-wide operational systems, fosters positive relationships, and contributes to a safe, organized and nurturing environment for children and staff. This position collaborates closely with other departments across JCCGB and is fully informed about the center’s services, compliance requirements, and operational needs.

Primary responsibilities include, and are not limited to:
Safety & Security
Ensure the Center’s compliance with JCCGB security protocols and EEC emergency procedures.
Coordinate and participate in annual safety and CPR/First Aid trainings; manage staff training participation.
Maintain active communication with designated Godine off-site evacuation locations.
Coordinate with outsider partners to schedule annual Security Training.
Operations & Administration
Develop and maintain efficient administrative systems to support daily center operations.
Create, document and maintain effective procedures to manage administrative functions efficiently and in support of the Directors, teachers, and JCCGB imperatives while meeting internal and external deadlines including transactions and processing related to enrollment, marketing, accounts payable, supply management, filing, classroom support, staff schedules, communications, and calendaring (holiday/vacation, summer programs, on-going events).

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will supervise position(s) as assigned. Supervisory responsibilities include, and are not limited to:
Hire and train assigned Administrative Assistant position.
Identify key areas of growth and create individual goals for the year which will be updated periodically and aligned with the expectations of the JCCGB Performance Management (PM) program.
Conduct regular supervisory meetings to provide on-going guidance, direction and supervision, including supervision related to the school’s allergy list.
Conduct quarterly meetings to oversee progress of goals, write and conduct employee assessments following PM program process.
Build and maintain a positive working relationship to achieve desired outcomes and the ongoing professional growth of the direct report; provide direct and clear constructive feedback and course correction when needed.
Perform all aspects of time and attendance reporting to ensure accurate payroll for supervisee, adhering to payroll protocol and deadlines.
Assign tasks to the Administrative Assistant, supervising execution and ensuring deadlines and regulations are met.
Ensure the Administrative Assistant is properly certified and trained in the JCCGB protocols for safety and customer service.

This full-time, salaried, on-site position offers a comprehensive benefits package, a supportive and vibrant in-person work environment, and a competitive starting salary range of $57,000 - 61,000 K annually.
The salary offered will ultimately be determined by relevant qualifications, experience, and JCC's internal equity.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor’s Degree,
and at least 2 years’ experience in an office administration, recruitment and admissions, and/or customer service role, including some supervisory experience.
Non-profit experience a plus.
Will need to take infant/child CPR/First Aid training annually or as determined by the EEC.
Must have strong computer skills: proficiency in Microsoft Office, familiarity with social media.
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC’s discretion to meet this minimum hiring criteria.
Skills and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrates the ability to multitask and manage situations effectively and diplomatically in a fast-paced environment; ability to adapt to evolving needs and circumstances and problem solve.
Must have a record of successfully working well independently and with others, building/sustaining collaborative working relationships.
Demonstrates excellent organizational and time management skills.
Demonstrates a commitment to building strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
Interest in and the ability to learn about school environments is a must.
Interest in taking a class in child growth and development (at JCCGB expense) a plus.
Knowledge of Jewish customs and rituals a plus.
Physical Requirements: This is an in-person position at the Godine ELC in Newton, MA. This position may require local travel to other JCC locations, evening meetings, and occasional weekend responsibilities. Must be able to work independently and handle a fast-paced, child-centered work environment. In the course of regular work, may need to bend, reach, lift, and carry. Must be present at work during Training Week, usually the last week of August each year. In addition, may not take vacation during the ELC blackout periods, which are typically the last week of the School Year Program, the first week of the Summer Program, or the first two weeks of the new School Year in August/September. Depending on workflow, there may be additional restrictions to vacations due to busy periods. Although work may be scheduled within a specific shift, must be willing and able to adjust hours to meet office coverage needs as required.
