Job Summary

SUMMARY The Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who has graduated from a NP program of graduate studies, who has acquired advanced, specialized clinical knowledge and skills to provide health care. The NP performs comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, orders, conducts, supervises and interprets diagnostic and laboratory test, prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of acute and chronic illness and disease. The NP promotes health and the prevention of illness and injury. The NP practices autonomously and in collaboration with other health care professional to treat and manage patient health problems. The roles of the NP includes, direct patient/family care, consultation, research, patient/families/ groups/ and communities advocacy, performance improvement, and leadership & professional development.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Current Georgia License as a Registered Professional Nurse s required
• Current Georgia Authorization/Certification as a NP Advanced Practice Registered Professional Nurse is required
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required
• Master's Degree in Nursing from the Georgia Board of Nursing Graduate School NP program is required
• Previous experience in area of specialty preferred
