The Engineering Technician II is responsible for performing electrical, mechanical, and environmental tests of current and new product designs under close supervision. Conducts continuous improvement activities to reduce the potential for product defects. Involved with problem identification, containment activities, action plan development and execution. Ensure that the test requirements for product testing and processes are defined and met.
Responsibilities
Setup test equipment and products in proper sequence per testing procedures
Perform tests on prototypes, existing, and competitor products for stated criteria involving mechanical, electrical, environmental, and electromechanical functions through ISO 17025 and Laboratory Scope of Operations
Use various mechanical, electrical, and electronic measurement devices
Accurately interpret and document scientific notation, temperature, pressure, and other measurements
Assists in the assembly and fabrication of test equipment and prototype products per blueprint specifications
Follow guidelines for bill of materials
Support manufacturing through troubleshooting activities
Maintain test-related documentation in, and support administration of, database environment
Prepare formal and informal test reports
Assist with the Generac Engineering Laboratory Audit and organization 5S programs
Requirements
High School Diploma
2 Years of relevant work experience
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
