Maintenance Aide I
Frostburg State University (FSU) seeks applications for a nonexempt full-time Maintenance Aide I. Hourly pay rate of $18.77; includes University of Maryland benefits package which includes annual leave, holidays, personal, and sick leave; tuition remission; excellent health and life insurance, and retirement plans. This position’s hours occur during the daylight shift at FSU.
Responsibilities: Under direct supervision, the Maintenance Aide completes minor repairs in the residence halls, including repairs in student rooms and in restrooms. The maintenance aid also adjusts the height of beds, repairs, and moves bedroom furniture, providing touch up painting needed as needed. The Maintenance Aide I assists in the management of lounge furniture. They also assist in snow removal as needed. This Residence Life based position is meant to support the skilled trades work done by the Facilities staff. Required to move furniture and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications: One-year related work experience in trade/repair work. Ability to lift over 25 lbs. and buddy lift over 50lbs. Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of maintenance and repair practices, tools, and safety practices.
Conditions of Employment: Candidate selected for employment may be subject to medical inquiries and/or medical examinations to determine ability to perform the job. A driver's license valid in the State of Maryland may be required.
