Position Summary
The Acute Care Surgery (ACS) APP Fellowship is a 12-month, full-time training program designed for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants seeking advanced experience in trauma, emergency general surgery, and surgical critical care.
Based at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital—a 737-bed academic medical center and the region’s only Level I Trauma Center—this fellowship provides immersive, hands-on clinical training in a high-acuity environment.

Education: Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program or Accredited Physician Assistant Program.
Experience: Clinical experience appropriate to specific practice/ department preferred.
Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Current Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license required. DEA licensure required. Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.
Other Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrates knowledge and competency of core skills, related to assigned area, that serves as a basis for continued growth and progression of skills and pace. Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills. Computer literacy required for automated computer systems and programs such as electronic medical records.
