Astrolabe Brew Bar is on the hunt for an experienced and energetic Duty Manager to join the team at one of Mount Maunganui’s busiest and most iconic hospitality venues.
Located right across from the beach in the heart of Mount Maunganui, Astrolabe is known for its vibrant atmosphere, live entertainment, functions, great food, cocktails and buzzing late-night trade. From corporate events and private celebrations to packed weekends and summer sessions, no two days are ever the same.

About the Role
Working closely with the venue leadership team, you’ll oversee day-to-day operations with a strong focus on functions, guest experience and leading successful service periods.
Key Responsibilities
Functions & Events
• Coordinate and oversee private functions, events and group bookings from setup through to pack down • Liaise with clients to ensure event requirements and expectations are met • Work closely with kitchen, bar and management teams to deliver seamless functions and service • Ensure function spaces are presented to Astrolabe Brew Bar standards • Support the growth and success of the venue’s functions offering
Operations & Leadership
• Lead, train and motivate front-of-house teams • Deliver exceptional customer service and memorable guest experiences • Manage busy service periods and late-night trade • Handle customer feedback and enquiries professionally • Support staff development and venue culture initiatives
Compliance & Administration
• Complete opening and closing procedures • Cash handling and end-of-day reporting • Maintain health & safety and licensing compliance • Assist with staffing, stock control and operational procedures
What We’re Looking For
• Previous experience in a Duty Manager or hospitality leadership role • Proven experience coordinating functions or large group bookings • Strong leadership and communication skills • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment • Passion for hospitality, events and customer experience • Current LCQ qualification and Duty Manager Certificate essential • Flexible availability including evenings, weekends and public holidays
