Job description
The Retail Store Designer is a creative leader on the Design & Construction team, responsible for shaping immersive retail environments that reflect the brand’s vision and values. The role focuses on transforming conceptual ideas into experiential spaces for new store developments, retrofit projects, and mid-cycle updates across the retail network. As a strategic partner, the Retail Store Designer ensures that each project elevates the guest experience while maintaining architectural rigor, design integrity, and alignment with brand standards. A key aspect of this role is designing spaces that enhance the customer shopping journey, support operational efficiency requirements, optimize space productivity and reflect the brand image.
Main responsibilities
· In this position, the Senior Store Designer leads end-to-end design for complex retail projects, including macro and micro spatial layouts, storefront concepts, interior elevations, custom fixtures, and brand-driven experiences.
· Responsibilities include preparing and presenting design concepts, reviewing drawing sets, ensuring space allocation optimization and constructability, supporting ongoing updates across the store network.
· The role requires close collaboration with Construction, Operations, Merchandising, IT, Loss Prevention, Procurement, and external consultants, ensuring compliance with building codes, accessibility requirements, landlord criteria, and quality standards across Canada. It also includes managing timelines, adherence to budgets, and reporting key milestones.
Qualifications
· The ideal candidate holds a degree in Interior Design or Architecture, with 5-8 years of experience leading high-profile retail or architectural projects.
· They possess expertise in AutoCAD, ACC, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and rendering tools, along with strong communication and presentation abilities.
· This role requires someone who is detail-focused, solutions-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities, and comfortable working independently in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
· Preferred skills include a deep understanding of retail design standards, fixture development, and spatial storytelling. Strong awareness of how store design and sales are closely connected, and the ability to create environments that drive measurable results.
· Bilingualism and willingness to travel are required, with NCIDQ or LEED certifications considered an asset.
