About Us
The NC Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) is the state government agency created to conserve and sustain the state’s fish and wildlife resources through research, scientific management, wise use and public input. The NCWRC is the regulatory agency responsible for the enforcement of North Carolina’s fishing, hunting, trapping, and boating laws. The agency has an operational budget of approximately $100 million and employs approximately 700 full-time staff and 100 seasonal temporary staff across the state, including wildlife and fisheries biologists and technicians, wildlife law enforcement officers, wildlife educators, communication specialists, and customer service, information technology and administrative professionals. The NCWRC Mission is to conserve North Carolina’s wildlife resources and their habitats and provide programs and opportunities that allow hunters, anglers, boaters, and other outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy wildlife-associated recreation.
Description of Work
The North Carolina Youth Outdoor Engagement Commission (YOEC) is accepting applications for a YOEC Deputy Director (Program Officer).
The North Carolina Youth Outdoor Engagement Commission (YOEC) is a state agency that operates with funding from the NC General Assembly and donors. The YOEC mission is to encourage and strengthen young North Carolinians' connection to nature by providing opportunities to engage with the outdoors. We envision North Carolinians engaging with the state's diverse natural resources and developing a lasting appreciation for the outdoors.
The Deputy Director leads departments in fulfilling the agency’s strategic vision, overseeing all aspects of grants and programs, and managing the daily operations of the Commission.
Responsibilities:
This is a Full-Time Exempt position. The schedule associated with this position is Monday-Friday (8:00am – 5:00pm), which is 40 hours per week. This position requires occasional weekend, evening, and overnight shifts. This position requires regular travel across the state to attend meetings, events and conferences. This position is based at the YOEC-Raleigh office, located in the NC Wildlife Resources Commission Building (1751 Varsity Drive, Raleigh, NC 27606).

RECRUITMENT RANGE: $55,000 - $70,000
Minimum Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years of program experience in the area of assignment, including two years of managerial experience in the public or private sectors involving significant decision-making authority in the planning, organizing and directing of operations in the areas of the assigned program(s);
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
