The Merchandiser – Outlet will support the merchandising strategy for the outlet business in Japan. This role will work closely with the Japan retail team and global merchandising team to optimize product assortment, manage inventory efficiently, and maximize sales performance across outlet stores.
Buying & Product Management
Support seasonal buying activities for outlet stores in alignment with global merchandising strategy
Prepare and manage order sheets and ensure order accuracy
Check order confirmations and coordinate with London HQ in case of discrepancies
Support special orders (Made-to-Order) when required
Sales & Market Analysis
Monitor and analyze weekly and monthly sales performance
Prepare sell-through reports and provide insights on product performance
Analyze the Japan fashion market and customer preferences to identify opportunities for outlet business
Provide recommendations based on sales data and product trends
Inventory & Stock Optimization
Collaborate closely with retail and supply chain teams to ensure optimal stock allocation across outlet stores
Support inventory liquidation strategies and carry-over product management
Coordinate product transfers between stores to maximize sales opportunities and minimize stock loss
Support markdown and product lifecycle management to optimize inventory turnover
Store Collaboration
Gather feedback from store teams to understand customer trends and product needs
Work closely with the sales team to ensure appropriate product assortment and stock levels
Support product related coordination including delivery checks and quality related issues
Reporting
Prepare and analyze various sales and merchandising reports
Weekly and monthly sales reports
Sell-through and product performance reports
Experience Required
2 to 5 years of experience in merchandising within fashion or luxury brands (shoes, bags or accessories preferred)
Experience in outlet merchandising is a plus, however candidates with general merchandising experience who have strong interest in outlet business are also welcome
Skills / knowledge required
Strong analytical and numerical skills
Good command of Excel and reporting tools
Experience using SAP or other ERP systems is preferred
Good English communication skills to collaborate with global teams
Characteristics required
Highly organized with strong planning skills
Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced international environment
Comfortable collaboration with global teams across different time zones
Strong team player, able to work cross-functionally within the organization
