

China is one of the world's most vibrant building materials markets for wood-based panels, and our client is positioned to seize that potential. IDM Brands is appointing a Sales Director, China on behalf of their client, to own all commercial activity for products shipped from European and US production sites, grow distributor networks across priority sectors, and establish the market footprint needed for substantial, lasting revenue growth.
This role is for a commercial leader with genuine standing in the Chinese market. You will shape and deliver the China sales strategy, engage directly with leading B2B accounts and channel partners, guide a local team, and drive business initiatives independently. We are looking for a builder and entrepreneur: ownership-driven, respected in the field, and eager to leave a lasting mark.
Key Responsibilities
Key Account Management: Build and sustain direct relationships with leading B2B accounts spanning furniture manufacturers, carpenters, construction firms, and property developers, with hands-on involvement in pricing and negotiations.
Commercial Strategy & Execution: Design and own the China sales strategy across the full product range, converting global ambitions into specific, measurable outcomes. Emphasis on practical delivery, not oversight alone.
Market Development: Identify new customer segments, introduce product lines matching Chinese design trends, and broaden reach across all wood-based panel categories, targeting double-digit turnover growth within 12 to 24 months.
Distributor Network Development: Audit the current distributor network, close performance gaps, reactivate dormant accounts, and grow channel partnerships across woodworking, DIY, furniture, and construction sectors.
Reporting & Intelligence: Deliver commercial reporting, market analysis, and competitive intelligence to regional headquarters to support product and pricing strategy.
Team Leadership: Evaluate the local commercial team, set clear KPIs aligned with global targets, and build a resilient, results-focused sales culture.
