At Clarios, the Senior Embedded Software Engineer plays a critical role in developing embedded software for automotive energy storage and battery management systems (BMS) used by global OEM customers. This role combines deep AUTOSAR expertise with strong software requirements management, ensuring safe, compliant, and high‑quality software across the full V‑model lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and integrate embedded software for battery management systems, energy storage controllers, and related electronic modules
Design and implement software based on AUTOSAR Classic architecture (Adaptive a plus where applicable)
Author, decompose, and manage software requirements aligned to system, safety, and customer specifications
Collaborate closely with Systems Engineering, Hardware, Functional Safety, Validation, and Manufacturing
Configure and integrate AUTOSAR BSW, MCAL, and SW‑Cs using industry tools
Ensure compliance with ISO 26262, ASPICE, and Clarios’ internal product development standards
Support customer technical reviews, software audits, and OEM change requests
Perform code reviews, design reviews, and requirements quality checks
Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex system‑level issues
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of Clarios software practices
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
7+ years of experience in embedded software development, preferably in automotive electronics
Strong hands‑on experience with AUTOSAR Classic
Proven experience in software requirements management, including:
Requirements authoring and decomposition
Change and impact analysis
Traceability using tools such as DOORS, Polarion, Jama, or CodeBeamer
Proficiency in C (C++ a plus) for embedded systems
Experience with microcontrollers, RTOS, and low‑level drivers
Strong understanding of V‑model development and safety‑critical software
Experience working in a global, matrixed engineering organization
Preferred / Clarios‑Relevant Experience
Experience with battery management systems (BMS), power electronics, or energy storage products
Familiarity with AUTOSAR configuration tools (e.g., DaVinci Configurator, EB tresos)
Knowledge of vehicle communication protocols (CAN, LIN, UDS, Ethernet)
Exposure to functional safety assessments, safety requirements, and safety mechanisms
Experience supporting OEM customer engagements and technical reviews
Model‑based development (MATLAB/Simulink) experience
Prior technical leadership or lead‑engineer responsibility
