Senior Wireless Engineer - Infrastructure Networks _ Division of Information Systems
Serve as the subject matter expert for wireless technologies and capabilities supporting the business needs of UMMC and executing wireless projects. Work very closely with other Network Architects, Network Engineers, Information Technology Directors, Assistant Directors, and Managers to properly design and support these systems. Responsible for the technical aspects of the design, management, and support of the wireless systems and related networking systems that support the successful operation of UMMC campus networks. Lead the analysis of customer requirements and development of wireless solutions to meet required performance and coverage and mentor more junior staff. Lead and oversee the work of tech services staff for wireless.
Education and Experience Required:
High school diploma and three (3) years experience in network planning, wiring, designing networks, troubleshooting, and technical support.
Certifications, Licenses, or Registration Required:
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) must obtain post-hire within twelve (12) months.
Preferred Qualifications:
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
WAN/ LAN WLAN projects- remotes sites - project lead; knowledge Cisco Wireless LAN Configuration for Enterprise and Outdoor environments; thorough understanding of 802.11 based wireless architecture; Cisco partner experience.
Experience with WLCs, APs, Prime, CMX, and MSE; strong working knowledge installing, configuring, and supporting Cisco Router/Switch and Wireless LAN Hardware products; must have excellent communication skills, writing skills, and the ability to work with team members at all levels; excellent customer interface, oral communications, and technical writing skills; Cisco knowledge with network design, operational support, hands-on implementation and configuration of routers, hubs, switches, Controllers, Access points, and cabling in a large enterprise LAN/WAN /WLAN environment; knowledge of EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, RIP, FR/ATM, MPLS, IPVPN, ACLs, QOS, TCP/IP, IPX.
