The Union Food Organization (UFO) Associate will support the coordination and execution of Union College’s food recovery and donation initiative. This program aims to safely collect surplus food from Reamer Dining and redistribute it to local community partners, addressing food insecurity in our local community. The position offers students the opportunity to engage in sustainability and community service work while developing organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Rate of Pay: $9.70/hr

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Collaborate with Dining Services, the Office of Sustainability, and community partners to coordinate food recovery efforts.
Safely collect, label, and store leftover food according to campus and health safety guidelines.
Log donation quantities and delivery details for reporting and compliance.
Assist with scheduling and training other student workers or volunteers involved in the food donation process.
Communicate with local organizations and ensure delivery or pick-up of donations.
Create promotional materials (flyers, social media posts, etc.) to raise awareness about the food recovery initiative.
Maintain accurate records and assist with program evaluation and data collection.
Perform other related duties as needed to support the success of the food donation mission.
Qualifications:
Reliable, responsible, and organized
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Comfortable working in dining settings and following food safety procedures
Passion for sustainability, community engagement, or food justice
Familiarity with Excel or Google Sheets for data tracking preferred
