Based in our Karratha office, you will be at the forefront of local storytelling covering everything from community news and sport to photography and digital content.
This role offers hands-on experience across multiple platforms, providing a strong foundation to accelerate your journalism career in a fast-paced regional newsroom.
You will bring tertiary qualifications in journalism, or a related field, along with a genuine passion for local news and a solid understanding of digital platforms and social media.
A collaborative mindset, curiosity, and a strong eagerness to learn and grow within a supportive team environment are essential.
About the role
Researching, writing and publishing news articles across a variety of platforms, including print and digital channels.
Conducting interviews and gathering information from a range of sources to produce high-quality, factual content.
Attending and reporting on local events, meetings and community activities.
Working collaboratively with the editorial team to develop and execute news coverage strategies.
Maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders and community members.
Consistently meeting deadlines and adhering to editorial standards and policies.
About you
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong command of the English language.
A proven track record of journalism experience, preferably in a regional or community news setting.
Strong research and investigative skills, with the ability to verify information from multiple sources.
Familiarity with the latest digital publishing tools and techniques.
A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
A commitment to ethical journalism and upholding the highest standards of accuracy and integrity.
