Job Description
We are seeking an experienced SAS Data Engineer to support business-critical SAS jobs, perform ongoing job maintenance and fixes, and drive modernization initiatives by migrating SAS workloads to Databricks using SQL and Python. The role requires strong hands-on expertise in SAS EG, SAS GRID, Advanced SAS, SQL, and Databricks, with exposure to Python preferred.
Roles & Responsibilities
Provide end-to-end production support for SAS jobs running on SAS Enterprise Guide (EG) and SAS GRID environments
Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve job failures, performance issues, and data discrepancies within defined SLAs
Perform job maintenance and fixes, including code corrections, enhancements, reruns, dependency updates, and scheduling fixes
Conduct root cause analysis for recurring incidents and implement preventive solutions
Develop, modify, and maintain SAS programs using Advanced SAS, including Macros, advanced functions, and PROC SQL procedures
Support complex data transformations, validations, and business rule implementations in SAS
Participate in SAS to Databricks migration initiatives, converting SAS logic into Databricks SQL and Python (PySpark)
Ensure functional parity and data accuracy between SAS and Databricks platforms through validation and reconciliation
Write and optimize complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and performance improvement
Collaborate with data engineering and analytics teams to improve scalability, efficiency, and processing performance
Support Shift B operations till 11:00 AM PST to enable global business continuity
Follow ITSM processes for incident, problem, and change management
Create and maintain technical documentation and support audits and compliance activities
Participate in knowledge transition and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Skills & Experience
Mandatory
6+ years of hands-on experience with SAS Enterprise Guide (EG) and SAS GRID
6+ years of experience in Advanced SAS, including:
SAS Macros
Advanced functions
PROC SQL procedures
6+ years of strong experience in SQL
2+ years of hands-on experience with Databricks (DBX)
Strong experience in production support, job maintenance, and issue resolution
Good to Have
Working knowledge of Python, preferably for data engineering or migration use cases
Experience in SAS to cloud modernization / migration programs
Familiarity with support models, ITSM processes, and SLA-driven delivery
Work Model & Location
Shift: B Shift – Support till 11:00 AM PST
Work Model: 5 days Work from Office (RTO)
Location: Any of the 4 Strategic Delivery Locations (as defined by client)
