Mentoring Plan
Madeline will receive close and consistent mentorship from the PI, Dr. Su Deng. We will meet one-on-one weekly to review experimental progress, troubleshoot challenges, and discuss data interpretation. In addition, Madeline will participate in weekly lab meetings, where she will present her work, receive feedback, and engage in scientific discussions with the team. Informal, day-to-day interactions with the PI and senior lab members will provide continuous guidance and support.
Education Plan
This training experience is designed to build on Madeline’s undergraduate background in the biological sciences and prepare her for her next career step, whether graduate or medical school. Through hands-on research and active participation in experimental design and data analysis, she
will strengthen her understanding of disease biology and translational research. She will also receive guidance on scientific communication, including data presentation and, when appropriate, manuscript preparation. These experiences will support her development of critical skills needed
for advanced training and future academic applications.

Madeline’s training will consist of two integrated components:
