About Shepherd Electric Supply
Since 1892, Shepherd Electric Supply has been the first call when complex, time-critical electrical challenges need to be solved and reliability truly matters. We move materials accurately and on time so contractors stay on schedule, projects stay on track, and customers never have to wonder if we’ll come through.
Our success comes from people who take pride in doing things the right way — safely, accurately, and with care for teammates and customers alike. If you want to do work that matters at a company that notices, this is the place.
Why This Role Matters
Counter Sales is where Shepherd’s reputation is made and kept — one transaction at a time. When customers walk through the door or call in with a time-sensitive need, the Counter Sales Representative is the face of Shepherd: knowledgeable, dependable, and ready to help.
When quotes are accurate, products are identified quickly, and customers feel taken care of, they come back. This role protects revenue, builds loyalty, and strengthens the relationships that drive Shepherd’s growth.
This is not a passive role. You are the first voice and the last impression. Every interaction is an opportunity to demonstrate that Shepherd shows up — and keeps showing up.

How This Role Connects to Our Compass
We Keep Our Promises - You own the customer experience at the counter. When you say a product is available or a quote is accurate, it is. Customers and teammates count on you to follow through — no dropped handoffs, no guesses. Your word is Shepherd’s word.
We Stay Hungry - You are always learning — new products, new systems, new ways to serve customers faster and more accurately. You ask questions, retain what you learn, and apply it. The electrical industry rewards knowledge, and you build yours every day.
We Grow Together - You support your branch teammates and help the counter run smoothly for everyone. When things get busy, you adapt, pitch in, and communicate — you don’t wait to be directed. A well-run counter is a team achievement.
We Own It - You take responsibility for accuracy at your counter. When a quote is wrong or an order doesn’t go right, you address it — you don’t pass it off. Ownership means you see the problem through to resolution.
We Go Above & Beyond - Customers remember how you made them feel. You greet them with confidence, identify what they need quickly, and make sure they leave with the right product and a reason to come back. You don’t wait to be asked — you anticipate
Key Outcomes - Organized by what matters, not just what you do.
