Job Summary:
The Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences at Louisiana State University (LSU) invites applications for a 9-month instructor position in marine sciences. This is a non-tenure track appointment for a faculty position to teach undergraduate courses. Course responsibilities will include introductory undergraduate courses for majors and non-majors and the development of courses related to the applicant's area of expertise. The instructor will be expected to teach the equivalent of six (6) courses per year, typically three (3) per semester. Summer salary possibilities exist for additional summer teaching or research/outreach activities. This is a one-year full-time position only. The position may be renewed depending on funding availability. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2026.
Job Responsibilities:
90% Teach six (6) courses, three (3) per semester of introductory undergraduate courses to majors and non-majors (i.e. general education), either in-person or online and which will be based on the expertise of the instructor.
10% Perform other duties as needed by the department, such as contributing to field and laboratory work.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, Oceanography and Coastal Sciences, Geography, Geology, or other related areas.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D.
