Description

RedR UK is an international non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the capacity of humanitarian agencies, aid workers, and affected communities to respond to and recover from complex humanitarian crises. They achieve this through providing learning and development services, envisioning a world in which highly skilled professionals respond effectively, inclusively, and sustainably to disasters. They are active across the disaster response cycle, from preparedness and risk reduction to rehabilitation, reconstruction, and building resilience, and they emphasize a localized approach, placing local responders at the forefront of their efforts.

RedR UK has a rich history dating back to 1980, when it was founded by engineer Peter Guthrie following his experiences working in a refugee camp during the Vietnamese Boat People crisis. RedR UK has been honored to have HRH The Princess Royal as their President since 1988. RedR UK is a member of the RedR International Federation, a global network of national RedR organizations that share a common vision and mission. They have responded to many major disasters around the world, including the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami, the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, the ongoing Syrian crisis, and most recently the COVID-19 pandemic.
