For example, the Turtle Sanctuary volunteers are local residents who work nights and take days off from their subsistence living to contribute to the environment. Additionally, Playa Viva offers up to five volunteer positions at a time, with a minimum commitment of three months and preference given to those who can stay longer.

Playa Viva offers employees a comprehensive benefits package that includes a base salary, room and board in "best available accommodations," all meals and beverages, round-trip airfare to and from Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa International Airport from SFO, round-trip ground transportation to and from the airport to the hotel, revenue split from massages, and tips. The total compensation can vary from $1500 to $2500 per month depending on the volume of massages performed.
