The company focuses on exceptional coffee stemming from exceptional relationships, starting with Augusto's family coffee farms in Brazil, which date back to the 1890s. They are committed to ethical sourcing, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility. Nossa Familia sources coffee through direct-trade and family-trade relationships from farms in Brazil, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Peru, and Ethiopia, and roasts all their coffee on Loring machines, the most environmentally-friendly roasters available.

They are Oregon’s first certified B Corp coffee roaster, demonstrating their commitment to the Triple Bottom Line: People, Planet, and Profit. Nossa Familia Coffee offers a flexible work environment. While the typical workweek is 5 days with shifts ranging from 4-6 hours, they are often able to accommodate employee availability preferences, including shift length and days worked. They also encourage employees to bike commute or use public transit, providing bike reimbursement and Tri-Met subsidy options.

Nossa Familia Coffee offers a comprehensive benefits package for its employees, with varying eligibility requirements based on hours worked. Full-time employees (27+ hours) are eligible for 60% covered health insurance, pre-tax dental, supplemental insurance, paid parental leave, and Simple IRA retirement. Employees working 25+ hours per week are also eligible for long-term disability benefits. All employees, regardless of hours worked, are eligible for PTO, paid holidays, paid volunteer hours, and free coffee. The company also offers a bike reimbursement program and TriMet subsidy for employees who opt for alternative transportation.
