THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a role where you can step up, be trusted, and make a real difference, while being supported by a strong team around you.
Join us on Parikanapa Station as a Stock Manager, you will work closely with a supportive Farm Manager and team, in planning and executing farming operations and pasture management to optimise and improve operational processes and animal performance.
You will enjoy variety in your work, as your days could include anything from livestock management, managing shepherd workloads and balancing feed budgets along with the responsibility for ensuring accurate and timely stock data records and reporting, and managing farm data records in Farm IQ.
Your knowledge in growing young stock, best practice animal health standards and feed budgeting will be highly valued.
You’ll also have access to training and development, so you can keep learning, whether that’s improving stock skills, or using new technology that makes the job safer and easier.
We use horses regularly for shifting stock, so you’ll either be experienced with this, or keen to learn.

Pāmu Landcorp Farming Limited is a State-Owned Enterprise with over 110 farms across New Zealand. Our purpose is to lead the delivery of innovative and sustainable agriculture solutions for future generations.
THE FARM
Parikanapa Station is a 2,250ha effective hill country property in the Waerenga-o-kuri district, around 40 minutes from Gisborne. Running 26,000 stock units, the farm is a breeding and finishing operation with 9,100 lambing ewes and 1,000 calving cows and finishes approximately 900 trade heifers each year.
Horses are used regularly for shifting stock.
Outdoor recreation is right on the doorstep, and primary schooling is available at Waerenga-o-kuri, with the school bus to the gate. Secondary schooling is in Gisborne.
ABOUT YOU
This role will suit you if you’ve had experience in a similar role, or solid experience as a shepherd where you’ve been trusted with responsibility and day-to-day decision-making.
Ideally you will also have:
A full team of 6 – 8 working dogs
Proven experience self-managing your time
A current NZ drivers’ licence
An understanding of feed intakes and feed budgeting
Hands on experience with electronic farming tools and digital technology
