Responsible for preparing service-related quotations for all projects within the Electrification Business Area – Service Division (ELSE), as well as large-scale projects within Distribution Solutions (ELDS).
Based on requests from sales representatives, prepare internal quotations, perform cost estimations, and define quotation conditions.
This role involves communication not only with sales teams but also with engineering members and customers.
The team handles approximately 40 projects per month.
You will be responsible for tendering activities, which account for approximately 80% of the annual order intake.
Mission
To prepare and finalize bids, quotations, and estimates based on customer specifications, requirements, and budgets, achieving both strong market competitiveness and high profitability.
Maintain and improve the balance between ABB units and customers within your assigned area.
Key Responsibilities
1. Objectives
Prepare competitive bids and quotations by selecting optimal product configurations based on each case
Consider appropriate technical and commercial factors
Ensure timely preparation of bids with the correct level of detail and accurate, complete cost calculations
2. Preparation
Manage all aspects of bid/quotation preparation, including:
Technical: defining optimal technology and product types
Financial: total pricing, cash flow analysis
Project-related (as required): estimating engineering and commissioning workloads
Present pricing and commercial conditions
3. Coordination
Ensure all necessary inputs are collected on time in accordance with established quality procedures
Manage external support services such as translation and government approvals
4. Documentation
Collect and maintain all documentation related to offers and orders
Record assumptions and decisions made during the bidding process
Regularly report bid/quotation status using designated tools
Analyze reasons for winning or losing bids
5. Risk Management
Identify potential risks in bids, quotations, and related contracts
Participate in risk review processes in accordance with ABB policies
6. Information Alignment
Gather and consolidate all necessary information required for proposal preparation, including both technical and cost-related elements
7. Customer Relationship
Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to understand their needs
Maintain good relationships throughout the entire sales process
Provide technical support to sales managers during customer meetings
8. Supplier Selection
Identify vendors for required equipment and materials
Evaluate supplier proposals from a technical perspective and verify compliance with specifications
Coordinate subcontracting with Supply Chain Management
Requirements (Must-Have)
Education
Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred
Candidates without a degree may be considered depending on experience
Language Skills
Japanese
Business level (JLPT N1 or equivalent)
English
Business level (primarily reading and writing)
Required for email communication with ABB overseas factories and documentation for international customers
Opportunities to use spoken English will increase over time
Experience / Skills
Experience in low-voltage and medium-voltage business
At least 3 years of on-site electrical experience
Experience in preparing quotations/estimates
Field experience is essential to understand service-related estimation work
Requirements (Nice-Have)
