Research Senior Technician

The Research Senior Technician will make common buffers, maintain insect and human cell lines, clone genes into plasmids, purifies plasmids and bacmids, over-expresses recombinant proteins in E. coli, insect cells and human cell lines, purifies recombinant proteins using FPLC system, transcribes RNAs in vitro, extracts RNAs, performs qRT-PCR, quantifies mRNA levels by Dual-Luciferase Reporter assay, and prepares samples for structural biology. The Research Senior Technician will record the experimental work on the lab notebook; order the reagents and items through Workday; organize the lab supplies; cleans the FPLC; cell homogenizer and other lab equipment; updates the reagent excel spreadsheets; read literature and papers relevant to the research; other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum Education Required
Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry or molecular biology in a biological/health sciences related field or equivalent experience.
Desired: Expertise in cell biology, especially gene transfections in human cell line and immunoprecipitation of the proteins; and experience in protein purification. The candidate must have clear oral and written communication skills in English and the desire to work as part of a highly motivated team. 3-4 years of relevant experience preferred.

The target hiring range for this position is $19.28 - $25.19 per hour. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit’s available budget and the individual’s qualifications.
