About FNTI (First Nations Technical Institute)
FNTI is an Indigenous-owned and governed post-secondary institution dedicated to serving Indigenous learners. Established in 1985, FNTI has graduated over 4,000 students through certificate, diploma, and degree programs delivered in partnership with Ontario’s colleges and universities.
As a First Nation-mandated, not-for-profit, and registered charitable organization accredited by the Indigenous Advanced Education and Skills Council (IAESC), FNTI delivers a range of post-secondary programming grounded in Indigenous knowledge and community connection. Through its community-driven and intensive delivery model, FNTI enables learners to remain connected to their families and communities while pursuing meaningful educational and career pathways.
Since the Indigenous Institute Act, 2017, FNTI has advanced the development of independently accredited degree programs, created by Indigenous people, for Indigenous people. Programming is delivered from its main campus in Tyendinaga on the Bay of Quinte, as well as virtually.
Position Summary
The Student Success Facilitator (SSF) is the first and on-going point of contact for learners, following their admission to programs, as specifically assigned by the Director, Learner Success and Service Delivery. SSF’s develop and maintain successful relationships with learners and faculty to support students, enhancing their success and FNTI’s profile. SSF’s will be required to effectively organize all aspects of delivery session set-up including attending sessions and to provide support to students and faculty. The SSF also assists with admissions/recruitment in the conversion continuum (prospective students from applicant to registered student).
Key Responsibilities
Student Relationships and Records:
Create and maintain student records by Program and cohort / level / location, updating as required;
Create and maintain electronic student files, as needed, updating as appropriate;
Commence, continue and develop student relationships by maintaining on- going communication with students of assigned cohorts; assisting them with all course/program related non-academic issues; responding to enquiries between sessions, forwarding to the appropriate resources, as required;
Organize and lead student relationship building through cultural activities, such as: pot lucks, crafting, theatre outings, etc.
Respond to general program enquiry questions as part of admissions process, including enquiries regarding partner admissions processes;
Post offer/enrolment, maintain frequent contact with students, answer enquiries and providing program information up to the start of the first session
Assist in the student admission process by making phone calls and sending emails, as requested by the Registrar's Office, as directed by the Director, Learner Success and Service Delivery; forwards admissions documents to Registrar's Office in a timely manner;
Logistics for each session:
Coordinate aspects of a session/delivery;
Ensure that classrooms are set up appropriately;
Purchase of certain program delivery supplies;
Provide last minute logistical support as required – photocopies; break-out rooms, etc.;
Completion/Graduation Celebration Support:
Other duties as assigned.
